[December 4th, Max wondered if they should do something for their anniversary. He didn't really see the appeal in a bar; they had a bar, a nicer bar than any place in the city, and it was cheaper, and there were fewer annoying people at the one here (note he did not say no annoying people here). But if Ash insisted, he'd go, and wait: as expected, people approached Ash like flies on a three day old pile of bananas and fish.
It's not the greatest thing for Max's blood pressure, but nobody gets pushy enough to boil over. He masks as if he feels nothing. At times, he tries to imagine it as Blanca, just to fantasize about him getting shot down. (How many times did he make a move while Max was still 'alive' only to get shot down until succeeding? Probably none, he knew the game he was playing too well to risk failure.)
So when Ash wants to go again on the 7th, and it's the same, he obliges with no more argument than he has excitement. And it's the same on the 11th. And again on the 14th.]
I'm starting to think you're just homesick for your New York bar at this rate.
