[It's weird, to end up at a home that's not home. He's spent more time there than anywhere else this year, but that says more about his transience than anything. If told five years ago he would live such a lifestyle, he'd have believed that, but not the part about most of those multiple places being not just six but seven, eight figure abodes.

And yet it's Jessica's home (still probably the nicest one he'd lived in as an adult, before Ash swept in) they're doing Thanksgiving in. Maybe it's a fear of being upstaged on her part if it's in such a house; such a naive thought is, while unvoiced, just more proof of Ash's suspicions, that Max's mind is on something, something Ash had likely been trying to put his mind on for months. Because with even half of his braincells to put to it, he'd suspect the worst sooner.

It's not until they're pulling up to the house and there are two other cars there that he remembers the hell of Thanksgiving is not only family, but family you don't normally have to see. And thanks to Michael, Jessica's family is still his family.

And their ride is a taxi. It's not like they can turn around. Though Michael coming out to greet them right away in a hurried excitement would've made it impossible in anything.]

...Maybe she decided to start investing in cars. But not especially good ones. To be more undercover. As a journalist.

Day 375, Friday, December 14th

Keep it in the towel. You traded bed sex for shower sex.

[ Ash planned to do both, but as their conversation continued, the heat settled into something more comfortable. It's just as precious, but it doesn't always involve sex. ]

But I can grab some food and we could do a movie.

[Sitting down, he now has to consider how serious Ash is.]

[ Ash sits on his side of the bed and stretches out, causing his robes to slid open, displaying his legs above the knee.]

Serious serious.

[ He can guess the reason for the hesitation. ]

[He sits down obediently, but his eyes do go to that open robe, not really hearing whatever he's saying.]

[ One of the exposed legs kicks at Max, but there isn't a lot of strength behind it. ]

Don't make me get dressed to go to bed. Movie or sleep?

[Yoink, leg caught, calf rubbed.]

Movie.

Watching, not making.

[ Ash knows what kind of movies Max used to make. ]

We have popcorn downstairs.

[His hand tries to inch higher.]

Or we could have a more substantial snack....

[. A hand over Max's is meant to stop the movement. ]

Act your age and need a break. Do you want the popcorn or not?

[He has to think a minute.]

...Either way, I'll be the one going to get it, huh?

[ Despite offering to do just that moments before, Ash isn't the kind of person to argue. That would be silly. So, instead: ]

Yeah.

[He doesn't assume Ash actually ever means to offer to be not lazy. And so, up he gets, off to fetch and make popcorn.

So, no bed sex, huh?]

[ Ash uses that time to switch his robe for boxers but remains otherwise unclothed, an unusual choice for him. ]</ When Max returns, the blonde is beneath the sheets, remote in hand as he scrolls for movies. A comedy should work best... <b>]

[Max has two bowls; one's popcorn is slathered in butter, the other mostly just salt with a lighter mist of butter. But he knows Ash is more delicate. He sits down quietly, already stuffing his face and seeing what Ash has picked.]

You like superhero movies, right?

[ The cursor hangs over 'Deadpool 2' ]

Sure. Action, comedy, SFX, what's not to like?

[And they go good with popcorn. He offers out his better tasting bowl, just in case.]

Have you seen the first?

[ Idly, he grabs a handful of the battery popcorn and adds it to his own before mixing the kernals. There aren't many, and Ash enjoys his dietary choices, but the few bites will be a burst of flavor. ]

We can start with that one.

Yeah. Did you?

[ Ash shakes his head. Before Max, he didn't partake in a lot of movies though thanks to gifts and his own purchases here and there, to list of titles under his belt has grown.

He hits the button to start the movie. ]

But I doubt it's the kind of movie that'll require it.

Don't underestimate these super hero movies, they're unexpectedly deep and artsy.

[Munch.]

I'm estimating them just right, but if you want to rewatch the first, it's the same to me.

Nah, we already started.

[So, really no bed sex, huh...]

It's still showing the logos so it's not like we're already too far gone.

Shhhhhh.

[He pulls Ash up close to him, leaning back to get comfortable in bed.]

[ Max is stupid, but it's a warm, familiar stupid. Ash even finishes his popcorn before the movies finishes.

It's not a bad one. The humor is ridiculous, but the movie leans into it enough that it pulls it off without being too over the top.

He underestimates his own fatigue level. Despite having had an easy few weeks, life still had emotional debts that required payment. The movie is nearly finished when Ash's eyes close in sleep . ]
